I am not a doctor and I don’t pretend to be one. But I feel your pain, because I am in the same boat you are. My wife and I started something called Trim and Healthy Mama – funny name I know, but it’s working. Dr. Axe has great books too. Things I have learned: I eat healthy fats. I TRY to NOT eat a fat with a high carb, like pasta or rice. For example don’t eat chocolate covered almonds. Just the almonds. Fat’s and sugars don’t mix. Your body will burn one and store the other. But I am not an expert on this matter, just something I am learning. Do something you like to do outdoors. Something that is free. The park, short bike rides, the mall. Do anything you can to get moving. Eat small meals every 3 hours. Check into whey protein. Dr. Axe has a lot of great info. Don’t expect for the weight tom come off easy. It’s a hard road – but you have to be consistent. Don’t eat anything that is high in carbs and sugar. Breads, cereal, pasta, rice, sweetened yogurt, sodas, candy and so on. You can do it!

I work a 12 hour staggered rotating shifts 3 on 3 off. I have a hard time adjusting back and forth from night to day hours. I have been on this rotation for more then 30 years and my health reflects it. I have sleep apnea, pre-diabetes . I take blood pressure and cholesterol meds . Ever since sleep apnea appeared in my life I can not keep the weight off. At age 39 I was at 200 lbs. and at 59 I am at 375. For the most part I eat healthy ….food portions are reasonable. I could cut back on carbs , but I don’t go overboard on these either. My main adjective it to take off the weigh, which seem impossible. I am not rich so as to buy wholefoods but do the best I can. I avoid high fructose syrup and use truvia as a sweetener. I’m tire of all the diet books and do this and don’t do that, and all the misinformation. Any suggestions? I need something affordable and to be able to sustain it for life that would let me enjoy life. Thank you for your time.
